Internet Voting for...Haircuts?

When I was in high school my dad said to me (more than once), "If everyone else jumped off a cliff would you jump off, too?"

Aside from the fact that this is a total cliche, it's not a very good way to demonstrate peer pressure. At least I don't think so. Would I jump off a cliff? No. Get my belly button pierced? Maybe. I was (and still am) enough of my own person to decide what I wanted to do, whether or not someone else was doing it. (Don't worry, Dad - I'm as stubborn as ever!)

Anyway, I was taken back to those conversations with my Dad when I read this story about a beauty blogger who really did do what everyone told her to. She asked everyone on her blog whether or not she should cut bangs - they voted yes - and she's going to do it.

Now, I personally think she'll look cute with bangs, but I don't think I'd ever let total strangers decide something like that for me. Unless I really didn't care one way or the other. What about you? Would you let people vote, American Idol-style, on something in your life?

Oh, I love to hear the other side of things! I might actually consider giving this a try myself. I agree that when in doubt, it never hurts to get a second (or third or fourth) opinion!

So I guess that was a really longwinded way of me saying that yes, I do let other people provide input, but I always have the last say.

I haven't posted much (finals, blurg), but I love this topic because I've actually done it!

See, I often have a really hard time making up my mind or choosing things. Even on stupid things. Like when my parents take seperate cars to an event and I'm asked, "Do you want to ride with mom, or dad?" I can't decide! It's crazy!

So, here's my [nearly] foolproof plan: I take a vote (if it's not a split-second decision) or I do eenie-meeny-miny-mo. But that's not all! If I feel any doubt at all or hesitation to what was decided for me, I go with the other one. I find that it's the best way to get my subconcious to make up its mind.

It's never failed me yet. I guess it will someday when I really am in a deadlock, but not yet!
